Greater expectations are placed on these students in terms of time commitment (inside and outside of the studio), superior leadership qualities, and an increased desire to perform and work on a strong performance quality. Students are expected to practice regularly at home and to work on new material throughout the week. Competitive classes will cover more material than regular classes, and this level of commitment is essential for the group’s success.

Competitive dancers will be expected to attend more rehearsals and shows than our regular students, and not to miss any of their classes. Attendance is fundamental.

Competition Team dancers are also required to take additional classes, outside of their competition team weekly rehearsals. You can find more details below in the team descriptions.

Several factors are taken into consideration in the selection process. A student must:

  • Take and apply constructive feedback quickly

Show eagerness to learn and a drive for continued improvement (practice, practice, practice!)

  • Demonstrate the ability to push performance quality

Practice consistently throughout the week in order to build dance technique and strengthen choreography

  • Exhibit leadership qualities; students are expected to set an example

Exhibit respect for the instructor through listening and responding to direction during regular classes as well as Showcase.

  • Have the ability to manage time efficiently in the rehearsal space

Arrive early, ensure their dance bag has all necessities, prepare mentally and physically
